Abstract: Give a set of natural numbers A, one can consider the partition function which counts the number of ways of writing a natural number n as an unordered sum of elements from the set A with repetitions allowed. In 1956, Bateman and Erdos gave necessary and sufficient conditions on the set A for the k-th difference sequence of the partition function associated to A to be eventually positive. Moreover, they made a conjecture about the asymptotics for how these k-th difference sequences behave asymptotically. We explain how to prove their conjecture.
