Ultraproducts and the Ax-Grothendieck Theorem
Time: Thursday, June 29, 4:00-5:00
Location: MC 4064
Abstract: The Ax-Grothendieck theorem says that an injective polynomial map from a finite-dimensional complex vector space to itself is in fact surjective. We’ll introduce the notion of ultrafilters and ultraproducts and show how one can deduce this result quickly from this machinery.
Hope to see you there!
